You're very lucky to have many Superiors deciding these things for you. They only impose their rule physically because we inferiors cannot understand the wisdom our Superiors possess. Between your wife, mother-in-law, and the neighbor, it appears you are never left unsupervised, which is a blessing. Left to our own devices, we get into trouble.
She's so superior to him in every visible way it's comical. It would be best for him and society at large if she could just claim ownership of every inferior she chose to keep. We're trying to make a better world, and if our Superiors were legally able to assert the control nature granted them, it would be a happier, healthier society.
I don't exclude myself here, either. If she were to decide to take ownership of me, that's life. I am in no position to contest her natural authority.
